Climate Action Week Sydney

Background:
Climate Action Week Sydney (CAWSYD) is an annual, community-led series of events designed to accelerate climate action, conversations, and innovation. Bringing together businesses, government, community groups, universities, and individuals, the week showcases tangible solutions for a more sustainable future across dozens of venues and event formats throughout Sydney.

Challenge:
For an event centred on climate action, organisers wanted the attendee experience to reflect the values being discussed on stage.But with hundreds of attendees moving between talks, networking sessions, workshops, and community events; catering and refreshments can quickly generate significant volumes of single-use waste.

Solution:
Cercle partnered with Climate Action Week Sydney in 2025 and again in 2026 to deliver an integrated reusable event service across the event series venues and multiple days.

By integrating with event schedules and catering operations, the system enabled attendees to participate in reuse effortlessly — normalising circular behaviour without compromising convenience or event flow.

Impact:
The partnership demonstrated how reuse can operate effectively across a decentralised, city-wide event series, where thousands of single-use items were avoided. This also created social enterprise jobs to deliver the logistics and servicing of the event.

CAWSYD 2025 and 2026 showed that circular event systems can scale across entire cities, not just single venues.
