Why Circular Economy

This is what the Reuse economy can look like

We can’t simply Recycle our way out of this mess..

5.3% of all global emissions are from plastic. 400 million metric tonnes! 40% of that plastic is used for packaging!

The most recent Australian reports show that only 19% of plastic packaging is being recycled in Australia.

Climate change is the world’s most pressing environmental issue. And Reuse at scale can significantly contribute to emission reductions.

We all grew up with the 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We are OK at the third, but did you know that there is an order of priority?

Rethinking the “take-make-waste” linear economy

Cercle is designed to scale and replace single use packaging and food services that rely on it. Learn more about Reuse & rethinking packaging.

Importantly, Cercle is at its core a solution to design out waste.

The principals of circular economy

Putting circular economy into practise is based on three key principles of eliminating waste through 1) design, 2) recirculating materials, and 3) regenerating nature. The Cercle solution helps do all of these. Learn more about the circular economy.

Australians create more packaging waste than…

Well, per capita, just about everyone. We are second in the world in fact; due in a large part to our geography, culture and lifestyle. Appropriately then, Cercle is a locally owned and operated solution to solve this waste issue.

We believe in reuse standards

Cercle is working closely with global efforts such as the PR3 Reuse Standards as a contributing and voting member, and Upstream to develop and lead the future of reuse. Standards and advocacy help ensure that the solutions being built for our future are trustworthy and achieve outcomes better than current practices.

We believe in collaboration

At Cercle, we know that reuse will require a collaborative effort with many roles in this circular economy solution. We are working closely with reuse service providers and leaders in the space, like Circular & Co, and Go2Cup – to deliver the best options and opportunities for reuse, together.

Together, let’s build reuse without the hassle.
